Taylor

Taylor Swift was a rarity in the world of pop music: she was the sole celebrity who transitioned from the traditional to the mainstream and then to be a global pop culture icon. Swift removed the influences of country in the sense that they had been added as an extra layer of skin, revealing she was one of the best singers/songwriters of her time. Swift could make the event personal and use it to her advantage. Swift's early tracks like the Neotribute for Tim McGraw were a testament to her talents. But, her follow-up album Fearless in 2008 showcased a songwriter finding her voice and a wider fan base. Fearless was a big hit not only in the United States where its Top Ten singles Love Story as well as You Belong with Me helped it to break six platinum records as well as around the globe. It performed particularly well in Canada, Australia and the U.K. Swift's new album Speak Now, released just two years after the debut, further consolidated the success of this album. The album propelled Swift to superstardom. With the three albums that followed the three albums that followed -- Red 2012, 1989 2014 and Reputation 2017, Swift's popularity only increased. This was a sure sign she had moved to a new pop world which she was able to fit into. The popularity of her music grew after she altered her plan in 2020's more streamlined siblings the folk singer (and Evermore) and stayed in the forefront of pop culture.
