Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on Jan. 19. 1946 to a humble family of 12 children later on, realized early that she could get away from her hardships through a vivid imagination. Her songs were written before she could write or read. Her first guitar was given by her mother when she was eighteen. She began singing in the Knoxville Tenn station by the age of eleven. That same year she made her debut recording for Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. Her name was made on the local circuit while at high school, but dreamed of a bigger stage. The day after she graduated in 1964, she moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde was her first single to reach the top of the charts on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated TV show host in the late '60s, was looking for a female singer for his program. Parton was a part of the Grand Ole Opry 1969 after having signed to RCA Records. In 1974, she resigned from Wagoner's show due to the commercial success of her own songs such as Joshua Coats from Many Colors or Jolene was way ahead of their joint release. Parton wrote I Will Always love You for Wagoner in the aftermath of their breakup. It made it to No. For the first time, in 1974.
