Allison Chinchar works as a weather forecaster for CNN and HLN. The station airs her regularly on CNN's "New Day Weekend" and HLN's "Weekend Express', as as CNN International programs. She worked as a local station meteorologist in Atlanta, Nashville and Chattanooga prior to joining CNN. The station covered blizzards and hurricanes along with flooding and wildfires and was awarded an Emmy for the coverage she gave of Dorian. Dorian which struck the Bahamas, in 2019. In April of 2011, she covered the Super Tornado Outbreak, when 350 tornadoes struck the Southeastern United States within four days. Around 200 tornadoes occurred on April 27, 2011. Her background being an ecoscientist has enabled her to write stories about climate change as well as natural catastrophes like the eruption of volcanoes, earthquakes, and so on. Chinchar graduated with a bachelor's of Science degree in Atmospheric Science from The Ohio State University. Chinchar is an active member of numerous organizations, such as The American Meteorological Society and Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society.
